The Russian word "расформирован"

#1

Post by SFCLinken » 17 Aug 2018, 09:45

In a report I am reading it says that the 2nd & 3rd Battalion is preparing to assault while the 1st Battalion of the 114th Inf Div is "расформирован". What does that mean in the context of the situation? In a glossary it means dissolved. But why would a Battalion be dissolved just before an assault? DOes it mean resting? Reserve status?

Or could it be dissolved to fill up the ranks of the other battalions?

disbanded, most likely, but it's always better to see the whole sentence/paragraph.

Why? Who knows? Report didn't say?

Also, why divisional report deals with battalions? Shouldn't it be in regimental report?

Reading further it actually seems as the 3rd Battalion in each Regiment is dissolved because they only ever after that mention 1st and 2nd Battalions actions.

We've got a report on company strength actually:
https://pamyat-naroda.ru/documents/view/?id=110277229
763 Rifle Regiment had 6 rifle companies: 4th through 9th, meaning that 3 companies were dissolved by that moment.

Art! Thats a work of Art!

Looking at that document it seems 763 and 536 had 6 companies each while 363 is a full 9 Comp Regiment.

Can I assume the number after the company ID is manpower?

Yes, numbers stand for the companies' strength
