Yes, it is red army ОБ-3 (OB-3). Two was lost during July 1942 in Voronezh area.
Is it possible to tell anything about these markings / insignia on train wagon?

Hi all,

Two images from Ebay. I would say type BP-35 trains, altought it is difficult to ensure given the wide variety of turret designs and small variations in the Soviet armoured wagons...

Hello all.

I cannot say where these photos originated. I only came across them on Russian forums and saved them in my attempts to categorize Russian armored trains. Forgive me.

I believe the first photo is Bronedrezyna D-38 while the second is D-37. I do not know the third. The fourth from what I can tell is a Modernyzovannaya Bronedrezyna AT-45.

There are three sorts of people; those who are alive, those who are dead, and those who are at sea.

The attached article describes the operation of armored trains by the Russian Army during the 1942 - 1943 period. The original article is a translation of a Russian Army report and was printed in the November 1943 edition of the US Army and Navy Military magazine ‘Military Review’.

Due to the attachment file size I had to break up each page into separate attachments. This post contains the first four attachments. I will post the two remaining attachments in a separate post shortly.
