Hi
Have You detailed info on the Soviet 5th Guards Cavalry Division in February-March 1945?
1. The way and fights of 5th div. since 26. to 28. February 1945.
2. What units consisted this Division of?
3. Are there any mentions in diaries, reports of eyewitnesses about the 5th Div. in February-March 1945?
4. Biographies of generals: Chepurkin, Oslikovskii, Kaluschny, Brikel.
Thanks for help.
Regards
KaSeF

P.S. Did the 207 Tank battalion (regiment? brigade?) belong to the 2nd Belorussian Front in February 1945?

Hi,

You can find some biographical info (admittely not much) on these fellows at my site including a picture of Chepurkin provided by the general's great-grandson. Regarding Kaluschny then I have him as Kaliuzhnii.

Kind Regards

Hi KaSeF,

From various sources, mainly two books by Vitalii Ivanovich Fes'kov:

1) Krasnaia Armiia v pobedakh i porazheniiakh, 1941-1945 gg.
2) Sovetskaia Armiia v gody "kholodnoi voiny" (1945-1991)

as well as the "Boevoi sostav Sovetskoi Armii" which is a monthly order of battle for the Soviet Armed forces 1941 to 1945.
Extracts from this (every 3 months) has been published here: http://victory.mil.ru/war/oob/index.html

The 207th Tank Regiment was part of the 32nd Smolenskaya, Red Banner and order of Suvorov II st. Cavalry Division. This division served together with the 5th Guards Cavalry Division under the 3rd Guards Cavalry Corps.

Thanks once more! I found in polish descriptions of the fight at Neustettin/Szczecinek three versions (concerning the unit number 207). Now I have known the right version.
