This unique Division was formed in the Yaroslavl region. Fought only in Leningrad, suffered losses and was completed by Siberians in 1944.

What's the meaning of "Fighter Division"? Strike Division or non-NKVD?

Soldiers of the division were small in stature and wore mustaches.

Your question is really hard.
All I've found is that in Yaroslavl Oblast 11 infantry divisions were estableshed.
The ones with given numbers - 5 or 6 pcs. woun't fit in the fact that the division only fought in Leningrad.
Mongols with mustaches? :D

In Yaroslavl region it was formed as a group, became division in Leningrad
Fought only in Leningrad, and in 1944 Siberiant fighters operated in the center of Leningrad. I have said - this is an unique division.
Why the Mongols? In the Yaroslavl region have lived only Russians. And then the Mongoloid race have rare mustache, and these fighters had chic mustache which liked women and children

Thanks for the hint!
I didn't want to be rude when I mentioned Mongols. It was just an idea of only Mongol division fighting in west, which it wasn't.

I'll keep on searching when I have a bit more time!

Mongolian divisions did not fight on the Soviet-German front. Mongolia has contributed to the victory over fascism - 500,000 horses on the formation of 7 cavalry soviet corps and the winter coat and sheepskin coats for Red Army. Soldiers from Buryat-Mongolian ASSR (region in USSR) fought in the Siberian and Far Eastern divisions on different fronts.

Huh, this is tough!
Was this group a Brigade? Did the division have a normal infantry division number?

Is it a joke?
Are you thinking of Мяукающая дивизия?
