Soviet Armies Suuport Units Order of Battle
Soviet Armies Suuport Units Order of Battle
Dear all,
I'm new so firstly ley me say I am very glad to join such a knowledgeable company.
I have been searching for bits and pieces of info about soviet army support units in WW2; This beacuse if today we can find and compare with relative easiness the front line units involved in the 1944/45 campaigns it is still almost unknown what were the "tail" units a soviet army would muster and what was their OoB. For example, I suppose an Army would have a Signals Rgt, a Medical btn or rgt, repair and salvage units, construction units and fronts would have all these plus fuel and ammo depots, camouflage companies, railroad units and so on... The usual idea is tha the soviet soldier went to battle with is PPSH and that's all. Can anyone halp with these units, even if only parts of info; I already have something but it is still very fragmentary.
Many thanks
Mat

Mat,
You are so lucky.
There is a Russian web site that holds files on all of the units and formations in the Operational Army from 1941 to 1945, including combat support and combat service units.
Unfortunately it has been down for the past week. Before it went down, I was abel to download all of the files. Currently I am in the process of putting them on a web hoster.
Here are the files I have currently posted:

Mat,
If you give me about three weeks, I can have a translated outline for you.
What I am doing is picking out all of the sub-titles from each book into Russian. Once done, then I'll translate into English.
So far, after about a week. I'm through No. 21. So about another week to finish it in Russian, then about another 2 weeks translating it.

PS: If you want to check out the Ground Divisions, go to No.s 5 and 6

Hi,
3 weeks is not much to wait for... I saw that on 5 and 6 there is a lot of info, with all cavalry divisions and so on.... Are these the 36 volumes you were talking about? Because if it is you already gave an outline of each one of them either here or in another site... If its so, i'll be able to go through it...
Many thanks anyway...
and take your time

Hello Mattasso
"Military" or "troops" or may be translated with another word, it depends on the context.Matasso wrote: - Voyskovoy - Military, perhaps - ?

Something like evacuational reception point, I think an English analogue of the term simply doesn't exist.evakopriemnik
If one tranlsates it literally: "separate medical reinforcement company": IIRC that is the unit designed for offering specialized medical help, which cannot be offered or can be offered on a limited scale by normal medical units.separate company of meditsinskogo Usileniy
