A book on Western Military District

Post by ISU-152 » 15 Jan 2003 16:07

Another good book depicting a failure of Western Military District which turned into Western front to check the German advance in the first month of operation Barbarossa. Lots of statistics and figures :( The Western military district actually outnumbered Group Center in tanks, artillery, aviation and other supplies but through inadequate commanding was routed within a week from June 22 until June 30, 1941.

Interesting, ISU-152, is it available in Western Europe? I can read Russian, but most of the time these books aren't available over here...

The book is re-published last year with new cover and additional photos. Is it available in English? I don't know about it.

We'll have to ask him about his relatives and whether they served in the Western Military District :D
