Tannu Tuvan Uniforms WW2.

Postby druid12 » 10 Jul 2009 09:44

I know i'm not the first to ask this but has anyone discovered any info? I would assume Soviet uniforms (99.9%) and 1935-40 rank insignia /collar patches, i suppose there is a small chance of "Tuvan" national symbols being used. Size of the army? 1000- 1500? Pat.

I would also guess soviet uniforms ,maybe older kit than currently being used at the time by the soviet front line troops.

The only info i have on Tannu is .....
1943 May 23 Tuva sends an infantry regiment and a cavalry squadron (4th Squadron of the 31st Guards Cavalry Regiment) to serve with the Red Army. Tuvinian tank crews, trained in the Soviet Union, are also sent to the front. One Tuvinian tankman is named a Hero of the Soviet Union. The Order of the Tuvinian People’s Republic is presented to 72 Tuvinians and 33 Russians for service in World War II (Unit citations are issued to the Tuvinian infantry regiment and the Tuvinian cavalry squadron serving under Soviet command).

I thought i had another link saved that said they sent a Anti Air brigade or nationals were trained as one ,but i cannot find it?
