Border Guard, Rifle, Cavalry and Artillery. By the way, there were armored units in the NKVD?

Re: NKVD TO&Es
Depends on size. Tank battalions in motorized rifle divisions, tank companies in motorized rifle regiments, tank squadrons in cavalry regiments.SergioDV wrote: By the way, there were armored units in the NKVD?

Re: NKVD TO&Es
Well, so there were no NKVD armored division but just tank armored battalions and companies. I'm looking for those TO&Es too.

Re: NKVD TO&Es
Actually in June 1941 an order was issued to form an NKVD tank division, but it was almost immediately rescinded. See:

Re: NKVD TO&Es
Nafziger provides a list of NKVD divisions from German intelligence summaries:

And a TO&E for a NKVD Regiment in March 1942 (I suppose NKVD Infantry Regiment)

Re: NKVD TO&Es
According to the NKVD order of 12 June 1943 the following organization of the border regiment was approved:
Command
Intelligence department
Staff
Political department
Supply section
Financial section
Sanitary service
Veterinary service
Signal company
Chemical defense platoon
Engineer platoon
Commandant platoon
Transport platoon
Maneuver group
3 rifle battalions with
15 line and 3 reserve zastava’s
“Zastava” (literally “outpost”) was of platoon size
Authorized strength:
192 officers, 379 NCOs, 923 privates, total 1494 men
61 riding horses, 116 draft horses, 18 search dogs, 22 mine-search dogs.
9 heavy and 39 light machineguns, 27 AT rifles, 3 82-mm mortars, 6 RSB radio-sets, 21 RB radio-sets, 1 radio receiver, 1 kitchen (auto trailer)
10 cars, 43 GAZ-AA trucks, 15 ZIS-5 trucks, 6 pickups, 6 GAZ-AAA for transporting radio-sets, 1 ZIS-5 for hauling kitchen, 5 motorcycles with sidecars, 1 refueling vehicles, 1 sanitary truck, 1 motor disinfection camera, 1 motor repair workshop type “A”, 1 motor sound&filming vehicle, 51 2-horse wagons, 1 1-horse wagons, 1 wagon for telephone equipment, 2 degassing wagons, 4 field kitchens.

There were earlier TO&Es but they were not very different, as far as I know.
Contrary to what the name suggests border regiments didn’t guard border but rather were engaged in security duties in the rear of frontline forces. Most regiments were reorganized from NKVD border detachments with the same numbers. Typically a chief of rear security of each front had several border regiments (plus sometimes other NKVD units) under his command.
