What were the various branches of the soviety army called?

For example the Germans had Waffen SS, Fallschirmjager, etc.

This info would be very helpful to me.

Thank you

Well, there were three of them:
RKKA (Rabotche-Krestanskaya Krasnaya Armiya - Workers and Peasants' Red Army),
RKKF (Rabotche-Krestanskiy Krasniy Flot - Workers and Peasants' Red Fleet) and
VVS (Voyenno-Vozdushnye Sily - Military Air Force)

They belonged to NKVD, not RKKA

Eeehh, It's OK....

I don't know if it is what you are looking for...
RKKA was composed of Infantry, Cavarlry, Artillery, Tank, Automotive, Ingineer, Topographic, Medical, Veterinary, Airborne and Political troops.

VVS was composed of Fighter, Bomber, Transport, Medical and Political troops.

Hope that helps
