Re: Soviet armoured trains
Nice...A Soviet armored locomotive with at least two armored wagons. The wagons appear to be Type PL-37 artillery wagons with two 76,2 guns. I think the locomotive might be a OB or maybe a OW series.

Re: Soviet armoured trains
Both appear to be armed with 85 mm AA guns. The top photo shows an unusual rail car. These two AA trains would have been considered to be a heavy train vs light trains.
The use of 37 mm, 12.7 mm HMG and Four-barreled Maxim MGs guns were far more common for AA defense, on light trains.

Re: Soviet armoured trains
The second one is armed with 76.2mm M1938 guns...I do not have found any information on the net about these trains....
Here, another two images from EBay:
Image 1: I think a railcar (PL-35 or PL-37 ??) of a BP-35 type train
Image 2: I think OB serie armoured loco

Re: Soviet armoured trains
4 photos up, the unusual rail car with the 85 mm AA gun, I think it might be a Polish artillery car modified for AA use.
Photo # 2 - (directly above) is a Russian 1918 era, Ov class locomotive. Armored smoke stack, then two armored steam dome/regulator valve boxes on top.
Photo #1 - I agree is some type of PL-35 car from a BP type train. But there are numerous variations of turret shape and layout.

Re: Soviet armoured trains
It looks like at least the 1st and 3rd are the same train. I would assume the middle is too.Sturm78 wrote:Hi all,

Here is A PL-35* wagon in Zhytomyr Ukraine, August 1941. From ebay.de.

Re: Soviet armoured trains
Sturm, I actually got it wrong. It is a PL-35. You can compare these line drawings and see the important differences.
1. The turrets are larger on the PL-35
2. The PL-37 hull is larger to accommodate 3,000 more Maxim rounds
3. The PL-35 has 2x 76.2mm 1902, the PL-37 has 2x 76.2mm 1902/30 (longer barrel)
