Need help with identifying Soviet Battle

#1

Post by hoot72 » 13 Aug 2017, 17:06

Hi

I had during research read a short description on the eastern front between 1943-1945 in which a German position in a town or city with a railyard was over run by Russian tanks and infantry and about 10 tiger tanks still on their rail cars being captured and German wounded soldiers in railcars that could not escape in time were killed by grenades being thrown into the rail cars by russian troops.

Would anyone know the name of this particular battle by any chance?
Whever we went, whatever we did, we quoted the songs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgUhjWJVVCQ&t=199s

This was most likely a small action, so without more information (date, area, units involved and so on) there is little we can do.

Seems to be mentioned in the first post in the given link:

"18 Oct 1943 - 13 Tigers are lost; 10 Tigers (ex-Pz Lehr) that were on the way to III. Abt Pz Rgt GD are captured by the Russians while being moved by rail"
