Tankfront.ru makes a reference in several pages to an NKO Order No. 724986ss on 9 May 1942. Can anyone find the text of this order? I have looked through my copy of the Russian Archives guides but haven't been able to find it.

Yes, I've seen several references to this particular number, but I am not sure if this is entirely correct.
NKO orders/directives did not have such high numbers, I think.

724986cc looks more like a number for Директива командующего Бронетанковыми и Механизированными войсками Красной Армии (Directive of the Commander of the Armored and Mechanized Troops of the Red Army).

Several tank corps were formed on a basis of this directive, but I've never seen a copy.

Thanks, I think you're right in that it was a BTMV directive. I did some googling and found references to some other secret 700,000-numbered orders from the BTMV.
