ORDER
22 May 1943 № 46175 Moscow city

In order to strengthen fire of automatic weapon of rifle companies
STAVKA VGK - ORDERS:

1. Rearm in each rifle company of rifle divisions and rifle brigades of acting army
all personnel of one rifle platoon, replacing rifles with sub-machine guns. The number of light machine guns
to leave the same. In other rifle sub-units additionally arm with sub-machine guns only
commanders of rifle squads, rifle platoons, companies and battalions.
2. Rearmament to produce primarily in rifle divisions and brigades, located in reserve of armies, fronts
and at disposal of Stavka.
3. The Chief of the General Staff of Red Army together with Chief of GAU of Red Army to determine
the procedure and priority of rearmament with sub-machine rifle divisions and brigades of acting army
expecting to complete rearmament of reserve divisions and brigades within a month, and other divisions and brigades
no later than the end of July.
4. The commanders of fronts and armies immediately organize training of SMG-gunners in re-armed platoons and
to practice the tactics of fighting of rifle companies in all types of combat, given the presence of one SMG platoon
in company.
5. About the course of the formation to report to the 1, 10 and 20.6.43 and July 1943.

By the order of stavka GK № 46175 from 22.5.43 in rifle regiments,
№ 08/0239 in each rifle company-one rifle platoon armed with sub-machine guns.
The quantity of light machine guns remains the same in this platoon.
In the rearmed platoon of rifle regiment are armed with sub-machine guns:
Commander of platoon, deputy platoon commander, 4 squad leaders, 6 men of second numbers
of light machine gun and 16 men of riflemens. In total of 28 men. Total on the shtat in this
platoon, counting four sub-machine guns, available on the shtat before rearmament,
on the new shtat have 32 sub-machine guns.
In other rifle sub-units of division, additionally armed with sub-machine guns, in each
battalion: commander of battalion, 3 commanders of rifle companies, 6 commanders of rifle platoons,
24 squad leaders. Term of rearmament - the June of this year.

The commander of division ORDERED:

1.Considering, that the battalions may have incomplete set of personnel, necessarily to keep
the constant proportion of the number of rifles to the number of sub-machine guns in rifle company.
Superfluous rifles send out on PAO.
2.For staffing platoons of smg-gunners, to select the best soldiers and commanders.
3.With the receipt of the present, directly in rifle company to organize training of rearmed
platoons and to practice the tactics of fighting of rifle company, given the presence of platoon
of smg-gunners in company.
4.About the progress of training, staffing and rearmament of SMGs platoons to inform by special report
on 6.00 of 5, 10, 20, 15 and etc. through Operations department of DivHQ.

3.From regimental level to battalion level:

The Commanders of
battalions of 213 grd.rr.
Due to changes in the shtat of rfl.co. on the introduction of platoon of
smg-gunners in the shtat in the each rfl. company, for the purpose of great
saturation in fire and increase in firepower of rfl. company
The commander of regiment ordered.
1.From 1.6.43 to 10.6.43 with platoons of smg-gunners hold 10-day conferences
according to the training program from high command.
2.On conferences to train and to work: action of platoon of smg-gunners of rfl.
companies in the offensive, in the defense, in the recon; to make of them
impertinent smg-gunners, capable of fighting in any conditions with success
and small losses.
3.All training activities to hold exclusively in field near from the front edge
of defence /sheltered places/.
4.The conferences of smg-gunners at rfl. companies hold allotted commander
on platoon of smg-gunners in rfl. company.
The conferences are held at rfl. companies, under the observation of commanders
of battalions.
To commanders of bn's to make the timetable for the time of conferences with
platoon of smg-gunners and to submit for the approval of the regimental commander
by 6:00 on 2.6.43.
