Jukov and Stalin in 1940 1941

Post by DavidFrankenberg » 19 Jun 2019 14:08

Hi,

i am wondering in what extent Stalin did consult Jukov prior to barbarossa and after.
Did Stalin listen to Jukov more than to others generals ?
Did he see him in a daily basis or weekly ?

I know the soviet recorded the visiits in Stalin's office each day.
And i guess that Stalin knew how good was Jukov. Since all were waited for the german attack, i wonder if they planned the defense of the country together.

Thanks for help

Zhukov was the chief of the Red Army's General Staff from January to July 1941. So, yes, he was among the top military advisers and regularly reported to Stalin on military matters.

Do we have the record of these meetings ?
I guess Zhukov met Stalin in his office. Did the Kremlin keep the records of entry of Stalin's office day by day ?

Check the second volume of Kotkin's biography, Stalin. Waiting For Hitler, 1929–41, where Stalin's meeting with senior military figures are extensively quoted.

From January to July 1941 Zhukov visited Stalin's office several tens times as indicated by records of the Kremlin office. Mostly in a company of other top military. That doesn't include visits to Stalin's dacha or meetings elsewhere.
