Hero of the Soviet Union vs Gold Star medal?

#1

Post by Dann Falk » 30 Sep 2019, 23:26

Greetings,

I have a report that During WW II an officer was awarded Hero of the Soviet Union, Order of Lenin and the Gold Star Medal.

My question is: Are all three of these orders different? Doesn't the Hero of the Soviet Union award come with a Gold Star Medal?

Thanks for any help.

Dann

Gold star was a material sign of the HSU title. Order of Lenin was also automatically awarded to HSU, but also it could also be awarded independently. So in nutshell every HSU received a gold star and an order of Lenin.
