Il-10 and Kujbyšev
Does anyone know which Kujbyšev Il-2 regiments went to re-equip and retrain for the Il-10? It is the 571 st Assualt Aviation Regiment, 8 Assualt Aviation Corps, 4th Ukrainian Front (II), I got the information from.

Quite good summary is here: https://airpages.ru/ru/il10bp.shtml
First unit to be equipped with IL-10 was 78 ГШАП, but it did not see action in WWII.
Others were (first combat mission):
571 ШАП (15th April 1945)
108 ГШАП (16th April 1945)
118 ГШАП (8th May 1945)

Re: Il-10 and Kujbyšev
Found out the 'Kyjbyšev' I was looking for had been renamed 'Samara'. The main production plants for the Il-2 and Il-10 were located there. The article says the planes were shipped by train to L'vìv, assembled there, and then flown to the front.
Thanks Greg

Samara was renamed Kuibyshev in honor of Bolshevik revolutionary Valerian Kuybyshev in 1935, and became known under that name until 1991, when it assumed its pre-Soviet name (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samara). More info on the history of the factory that built the Il-2/Il-10 is available at this link:Jeff Leach wrote: ↑11 Aug 2020, 07:02Found out the 'Kyjbyšev' I was looking for had been renamed 'Samara'.
