did volunteers from Scandinavia served in red army or other soviet units?

Thor Heyerdahl was a participant Soviet Petsamo-Kirkenes offensive operation https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petsamo%E ... _offensive as part of the Norwegian detachment, where he was a signalman.
