Soviet Machine Gun table translation
Soviet Machine Gun table translation
Greetings to our Russian translators.
I am working on a translation of a TsAMO historical document, a table.
The machine gun section has three different sections that I can not read properly.
See below.
Much thanks for any help.
Dann

Re: Soviet Machine Gun table translation
I think;
2. пулеметов ручных – normally the DP light machine gun (I think translates close to 'handheld' MG)
3 пулеметов станковых - normally the M1910 machine gun (I think translates close to 'tripod' MG)
4 пулеметов зенитных - normally the 12.7-m AA machine gun

Re: Soviet Machine Gun table translation
Thanks for the info Gary, but.... Anti-aircraft guns are listed separately under #15 Зенитн.орудия.
So #4 can't be AA Guns.
This is the same problem I was having, this listing for Machine Guns is not normal.
Lets see if someone else has an idea.
#1 is Personnel
#8 is Regimental Guns 76 mm
#9 Divisional Guns 76 mm
#13 is PTR - AT Rifle
#14 is Tanks and SP Guns
#15 is Anti-aircraft guns
#16 is Automotive
The Artillery/Mortars/AT Guns are easy to understand.
Here is the Full List.

Re: Soviet Machine Gun table translation
I think it's a differentiation between AA machine guns and AA guns (as in artillery types pieces).
Notice line 11 of the equipment table refers to Треног пулеметных зенитных which I think translate into English as AA machine gun tripods.

"Ручной" и "станковый" пулемёт in English usually 'light' and 'heavy' machine gun.Gary Kennedy wrote: ↑11 Apr 2021, 18:49I think translates close to 'handheld' MG)

Thanks for the information Paul.
Ручной = Light MG
станковый = Heavy MG
So Зенит = Zenit St Petersburg Bootball?

Re: Soviet Machine Gun table translation
Good work Gary, Paul and Art!
So...
#2 is Light MG
#3 is Heavy MG
#4 is AA MG
Much thanks for your help on this small issue.
I learn something new every day.
