That site is an incredibly resource. I was able to find a lot of interesting things pertaining to my recent book project. But sadly (for me) the language barrier made for a LOT of extra work and effort. As I couldn't work with the documents myself I had to rely on the generous graces of others. AHF was VERY generous in that respect. My dream for the future is that resources such as this be enhanced with digital transcriptions of the texts. Some exist but not nearly enough.

A bit more info about the regiment.

It was formed in Feb 1943 in the Moscow military District with KV tanks. In March 1944 it was re-equipped with IS-II (JS-2) tanks, and from late July 1944 to May 1945 the unit was assigned as a support unit in the 8th Guards Army. The regiment ended the war in Berlin with the 8th Guards Army.

This information is from a great source, Soviet Order of Battle World War II by Charles C. Sharp, Vol III Red Storm, page 81.

The Pamyat Naroda site has be inaccessible for quite some time, presumably due to current events. Can anyone offer an insight as to if and when it may be back? Are there any similar resources for Soviet records?

It seems to be working again. At least for the time being.
