HI Everyone

I came across this story and was wondering if there are any good, and accurate, historical books on her?

Also what would you recommend to find out more about her back story as well?

I think I found her grave as well but am not sure. is there a place to find out an accurate portrayal of her? her life, death, and units

is she an embellishment like say a Wittmann in terms of actual stats or is her story accurate?

thanks so much for any help here

I think I found her grave as well but am not sure.
The most common version is that she died from wounds in field hospital of her unit - 144th rifle division - near Reichau, East Prussia (now Cherepanovo, Kaliningrad Oblast). Some time later bodies were moved to a mass grave in Znamensk, Kaliningrad Oblast.
She has her own memorial there.
That's how it looked like in January 2021: https://www.prussia39.ru/photo/show_pho ... phid=28265
You can see it in Google Street View as well, but photos are from 2012.

She has another memorial located in the village she was born.
Photo of another monument is here: https://biographe.ru/politiki/roza-shanina/
Featured also in this youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2C832ljXQ4

She has a separate topic/entry on this forum (lots of photos there, (nice color photos of monument in Znamensk from Dec. 2019):

The only thing I know about her is that she received a lot of press coverage. Per her diary she attended the Central Women's Sniper School in Moscow and her platoon became a corps asset. This is deduced from the many divisions she mentioned she was sent to. Her scores may be subject to Soviet Math but because she admits that in repelling an attack that one could never be certain what killed an opponent, I do not think she was trying to massage her figures.

Suggest you read her diary (translated by Mogan).
