soviets produce aircraft for germany

#1

I have recently read that in 2/40 the soviets ordered a number of aircraft from Germany including He 100, Bf 109 and 110, Ju 88, Do 215 and Fi 156. These were delivered in 5 - 6/40.

More interestingly it is suggested that the soviets intended to licence produce a number of German aircraft with one third of the production going to Germany. A plant to build Fi 156 was built in " a Baltic State"

can anyone confirm these plans?
Where was the Fi 156 plant and did it start production?
What happened to it after the german invasion?

I can confirm that. Several people that went to Germany in 1940 wrote in their memoirs that Stalin wanted to buy a few dozen weapons from the Germans..

I never heard about those plans. It does not mean they did not exist... but I never saw anything about planes being build in USSR for Germany... Stalin wanted to buy German planes so that Soviet pilots and engineers could find a way to destroy them...

The Nazi Soviet economic part of their pact was signed on Feb.11 1940. The Soviets agreed to provide 650 million marks of foodstuffs and raw materials in return the Germans would provide military material and equipment and machinery and plant for heavy industry. In the wish list given to the Germans the Soviets asked for examples of the Me. 109 the 110 and the Junkers 88 airplanes. The Germans made excuses and had not supplied them by June 41.

Hi,

It may be tempting not to post here as this thread is almost 20 years old, but I found this link about the Heinkel He 100s being tested in the USSR in 1940:
