Talented purged soviet generals

Do you think that any of the soviet military leaders, killed in Stalin's purges, can be considered talented?

hm... that's rather difficult quetsion, since we hardly have anything to evaluate them by. Two most tallanted Soviet military theorists died as a result of plane crush- not purge related. as for thouse who were "purged" Kork seem to have solid military background, being graduate of Imperial General Staff Academy - it is all speculatory for the rest of them

Hmm.. saying "Two most tallanted Soviet military theorists", who do you mean?
I suppose one of them is V.K. Triandafillov, who's the second one?

Калиновский Константин Брониславович [1 (13).10.1897, Смоленск, - 12.7.1931, Москва], советский военный деятель. Член КПСС с 1920. Родился в семье офицера. В июне 1918 добровольно вступил в Красную Армию, участвовал в боях под Шенкурском (Архангельская губерния). Окончил Высшую военную автомобильно-броневую школу (1919), участвовал на бронепоезде в боях на Южном фронте, успешно командовал бронепоездом на Западном фронте в 1920. В 1921-22 инспектор Управления бронечастей Кавказской армии. Окончил Военную академию РККА (1925). В 1926-27 военный советник в Китае, затем командовал опытным механизированным полком. С 1929 инспектор бронесил и заместитель начальника, а с февраля 1931 начальник. Управления механизации и моторизации РККА. В своих работах заложил основы теории организации и боевого применения сов. бронетанковых войск. Погиб при авиационной катастрофе. Награжден 2 орденами Красного Знамени.

That is him. kalinovskiy and Traidnafilov died in the same crash. Btw how come nobody blames Peter the First defeat at Narva on purget of the Streltzi colonels corps - I mean so many experinced officers :wink:
