Hi!
Probably you mean General Major Herbert Brede (Aprill 25th, 1888 - October 6th, 1942). And his adjutants name was Major Riiberg. Sry, can't say you now his first name and datums...
His last post in Estonian Army was commander of 3rd Division. And as it's HQ was in Tallinn, he was also head of Tallinn Garrison. When Estonia was incorporated into Soviet Union, and Estonian army included as 22nd Territorial Corps into Red Army, he was nominated as head of artillery of the Corps. Until was arrested, and later executed...
As mentioned, he was artillery officer in WWI, and also during the War of Independence. Yes, he studied in Ecole Superieure de Guerre. Didn't saw any mentioning of living in Germany in his brief CV. Was also giving lectures in Estonian Higher Military School.
Do you need some more info? What kinda??

What did he write about them? Where he met them? Brede and Riiberk were both inprisoned with other high rank Estonian officers in Norilsk. And executed together.I found his name in memories of Austro-Slovenian cummunist, who was imprisoned in soviet GULAG's before, during and after WWII.
Did this communist give some details about their inprisonment or execution? Probably there is no translation of this book avaible anywhere...
thnx

it seems there is the English translation of the book.
Karlo Štajner: Seven thousand days in Siberia, New York : Farrar/Straus/Giroux, 1988.

Štajner has a chapter about the death of gen. Brede.
Here, in Croatian language edition it is on pp. 212-222, "Smrt generala Bredisa [Death of general Brede]".

Re: Gen. Brödis (Estonia)
Im new on this forum. A few lines about gen. Brödis from Estonia, wrote Yugoslav communist Karlo Štajner, who was in the same prison room with the general, at the day, he was executed. Karlo survived the gulag and came back to Yugoaslavia in the 50s. He wrote a book 7000 days in Syberia, i think it is translated also in english, original is called 7000 dni v Sibiriji. The title of book is because he survived 7000 days in gulags and Stalin prisons.K.Kocjancic wrote: ↑23 Nov 2003, 11:25Looking info on Gen. Brödis from Estonia.
