Need help identifying my large ss rune pennant banner its 7ft

Basically asking if its real. Its aging relates with other pennants of its time but havent been able to find one like mine. Supposidly my neighbors grandma stole it from her neighbor before fleeing germany. But he passed a few months after giving me this.

The pictures are not good enough to say much.... I agree the rope halyards look "new" and don't appear to be typical German mounting style....but can't really see well enough to know. Try better pictures, closeups of the "rope" on both ends, the runes laid "flat" , etc. What are it's measurements?

The story sounds very doubtful.... a "neighbor" wouldn't have a SS Pennant for anyone to steal, this would be restricted to official SS use. Smuggling would also be very dangerous, hardly worth the risk if caught! I might believe that a "GI" brought it home, but not the story as told. Of course, anything could be possible.

Yeah i dont believe the story myself but story aside its here so trying to figure out its history or at least what it was used for

Sorry trying to get an answer i check this thing almost daily to see been trying to find an expert in military stuff like this in Minnesota so if anybody knows let me know I'll definitely pay for a appraisal
