NSDAP Munich Putsch uniforms.
NSDAP Munich Putsch uniforms.
I hope this is the right place to ask this, but what was the main equipment of an NSDAP troop during the Beer Hall Putsch in the 20's, I am hoping on creating an impression of the uniform.

Re: NSDAP Munich Putsch uniforms.
I guess that most of those men were wearing brown colour SA uniforms with an armband showing the "Swastika" or were wearing german 1917-18 soldiers uniforms.

What we know to be "The Traditions Brownshirt Uniform" worn by the SA and other NSDAP formations did not come into use until the mid to late 1920s. As the photos show, the participants in the Beer Hall Putsch events wore either Freikorps uniforms and helmets with the swastika painted on them, or civilian dress, with the swastika brassard.

Hello Br.James,
You’r be surely right but the Freikorps uniforms were mainly the ones used by the Imperial Army or those of the Reichswehr, with the addition of various unit emblems.

Two photos from Bundesarchiv with November 1923 date.
Re: NSDAP Munich Putsch uniforms.
And this photo taken by a photographer working for a weekly magazine apparently shows gathering point for volunteers just before the Putsch.
As always, click on the photo to see in full resolution.

Thanks, Prosper, and I do agree that the Freikorps units wore whatever uniforms they had at hand -- either of the Kaiserliche Heer or the Reichswher.
And thanks, too, to GregSingh -- I hadn't seen this photo before. I wonder what was on those white armbands, and what building these men were standing in front of...it doesn't look like the Bavarian War Ministry. And I love that bow tie on the soldier in the middle of the group! The double-breasted jackets do look like what some SA units were wearing at about this time.

Fun reenactment of 1923 Putsch in the documentary film "The evil circle of Hitler".

There are more photos taken by the same photographer before the Putsch. One shows shooting training in the countryside outside Munich.I wonder what was on those white armbands,
These armbands were just clear white, no text or symbols.
Talking about fun / caricature, here is one after failed Putsch...
