cap eagle ID...SA or early SS?

#1

Post by Brig » 04 Nov 2002, 22:22

I have come across a cap eagle, one of the early types, small wing span, with the swastika in the wreath painted black from era. Two pins in the center, one broken off. It has the RZM stamp, very small, missing line through Z (space perhaps) and stamped 45. It's original, a veteran bring back. Is this SA or early SS?

This is the first pattern eagle, and was used by the SA and the SS.

I know they differed slightly. I've seen pics of one of each side by side, and one is slightly larger than the other. Which is which? ANy size dimensions?

Dear Brig,
The eagle I mention, has a wingspan of 49mm, and was worn by the SA, as well by the SS, form example on the SS-kepi and the early visor cap, in combination, with the jaw-less sculp bonehead.

The eagle you own, is maybe the first or second pattern Political eagle.
Maybe you can supply a picture, because a picture says it all.
Here's a picture that shows the wearing of the same eagle, for the SA as well, for the SS.
This picture is from Horst (Goldfasant)
