hi Bjørn from Norway,

Can you provide other evidence why the decals are repro
based on more solid fact. Such as line to thin, incorrect proportion..etc.

I am still learning so can you or any collector
provide more hints?

regards
ken

SS helmets

#6

Post by darryl » 16 Jun 2002, 19:41

Hello...I am a collector of Allgemeine-SS helmets. I am also an active member of the GDC forum. I saw this forum advertised there so I thought that I would come over to take a look.

Mark_III...very interesting that you say you came across these two helmets at a flea market. I would like to know which one since I owned these two helmets and posted these pictures on eBay a few months ago to see if there was any interest. Any comment?

Bjorn of Norway...I would like to know from you why you think these are both repros? I have been collecting for about 30 years and can assure you they are very real. In fact, both were sold to Kelly Hicks and he likes them a lot. The SS-VT helmet will be featured in both Kelly's and Mike Beaver's new SS headgear books later this year. As an aside... the owner of german-helmets.com (Brian Belll) also wanted to buy them from me. And, Derek Chapman (a well known SS collector in Canada) has seen them first hand and liked them. Any comments?

Hello Darryl,
I was going to comment as well that the helmets certainly look good to me!

Marcus...thankyou for the welcome. I'm happy to be here and hopefully will ba able to contribute positively on this forum.

Erich-SA...thankyou too! Yes, both helmets are perfectly legit and fine examples of rare pieces. It really riles me when people lie...those were my helmets...they WEREN"T picked up at some flea-market. And, I would love to see the real decals Bjorn has to compare these against.

We'll see if they respond,
