Re: Uniform ID question
Did any pre-Endkampf HJ units sport helmets and riding boots or is this type in and out of uniform? (Photo from an exp. eBay.de auction; Haven't saved any auction particulars... sorry)

Re: Uniform ID question
I'm puzzled by the headgear insignia and the footwear in this photo. Can anyone help me with an ID?

Re: Uniform ID question
Thanks, Von Thoma. I believe you are right. I guess I just never saw one on a fur hat before.

Re: Uniform ID question
Good morning,
Would anyone be so kind as to help me identify this uniform from the Italian army? The cap insignia appears to be a vertical flame attached to a circle with what looks like a 9 in it.
Thanking you in advance,
Elisa

Re: Uniform ID question
Dear Elisa,
Your Italian officer is a second lieutnant (sottotenente).
His cap badge is a bit difficult to identify as details are not very clear.
It could be either:
*"Artiglieria pesante campale" (then "di Corpo d'Armata") : "Heavy field Arillery" (which became "Army Corps Artillery").
or
* "Artiglierie pesante" (then "d'Armata") : "Heavy Arillery" (which became "Army Artillery").

I do not exclude other (remote) possibilities; if you could show a larger picture of the cap badge, that would help.
Regards

Re: Uniform ID question
Does appear to be NS Studentbund Armbands and possibly "Deutsche Wehrmacht" Armbands... wouldn't be unusual to find RAD, OT, HJ, & Studentbund types on military duty/detail, especially on occupied territories/near combat zones.... but other armbands also have the horizontal stripes and it's too fuzzy for me to see enough to be 100% sure...

Re: Uniform ID question
I'm wondering if anyone can identify what information as to Ebehard Weiss's rank, unit and decorations that can be gleaned from this photo. He was apparently killed in 1945. For instance, does the epaulette configuration mean that he was in a reserve unit?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
