The young man on the right in Bres’s picture in post #222 is more likely wearing a converted Dutch tunic than a converted Waffenrock.

Hello all,

Can any Wehrmacht specialist here, please let me know if this gentleman is an Oberleutnant? Or the correct rank? Photo from Autumn 1942,

TIA

Welcome to AHF

Easy,

First man it's an Army Infantry soldier ( Enlisted Man ), he wears a high quatily ' National Eagle', maybe Gefreiter, or Obergefreiter rank.
Second it's an Army Panzer crew man ( Not SS ), he had Unteroffizier rank ( Tress ( lace ) around shoulder straps )
An 'Ostmedaille' ribbon peeks in the buttonhole of the lapel.

Nothing else can be appreciated

Thanks heaps. These are two relatives passed on before I was old enough to chase it. In fact the second was killed on the eastern front in 44 as far as I’m aware. The first lived out to an old age, but died a few years before I could get to Germany and quiz’s him.

Any ideas on what this uniform and insignias tell us? Some French school children are hoping to identify this soldier. Photo supposedly from the French coast in 1941.

Not much to tell from his uniform. He's a Heer [army] soldier ranked Obergefreiter.

Thanks, that's what I feared. Just hoped I overlooked a possible clue. ;-)

Would you be able to tell me anything about this uniform? This was my grandfather. Thank you in advance.
