What was worn under SS uniform?

#1

Post by Brianna1627 » 08 Aug 2017, 14:54

What was worn under a Waffen SS Uniform? I heard somewhere that it was some kind of a silk shirt but I don't know if that's true. Were there suspenders? Or did the uniform have built-in suspenders? Would undergarments change from season to season?

I'm writing a novel and would like to be as accurate as possible. Thanks!

Better a cotton shirt, in white colour with a collarless design, pants suspenders/braces are used too.
A wollen pullover was part of the equipment.
I recently saw a picture of SS-Reichsführer Himmler, wearing a sweater * under his open-necked tunic.
* A non regulatory sweater.
An old thread about SS underpants may be of interest to you : viewtopic.php?f=8&t=193854&hilit :?
