Uniform ID
Can anyone help identify these uniforms please? Family photos so I would be grateful for as much information as possible. If this is the wrong forum perhaps someone could point me in the right direction.
All from Torun, Poland (Thorn).
1. This I believe was taken in Walcheren in 1944
2. Is this Arbeitsdienst uniform and what emblem would be on the armband? Possibly taken in Halle?
3. Is this Wehrmacht.
4. ?
5. ?

Re: Uniform ID
#1. Army EM wearing M43/44 field cap....
#2. RAD EM. Armband would be standard swastika type.
#3. Army EM (Wehrmacht is actually "all" branches of service.). Probably 1940/41/42 but pretty generic.
#4. WW1 Army, swords mean these guys are cavalry, Ulhan, or mounted troops of some kind.
#5. WW1 Army- seem to be regular infantry types....
Not enough detail to identify units, no special insignia of other identifying markings, nothing to distinguish any more than what's visible.
Hope this helps.

Re: Uniform ID
Thank you so much for that information John G, much appreciated.
I would love to piece together more of their journey through the wars, unfortunately I don't have any further paperwork of what units any of them served in (I have my father's Volksliste document).
My grandfather (#3) was a prisoner in Stalag IIA in Mecklenburg, released only after the entire family signed the Volksliste. Last sighted in Riga but never came home.
My father (#1 & 2 ) was captured in Metz by the Americans, shipped to U.K. and served in Scotland under Gen Maczek.
Please excuse my ignorance but would Nos 4 and 5 be German or Prussian uniforms?
Thanks again.
Sue

Re: Uniform ID
Impossible to really tell.... but Prussian is really for everyone that wasn't still a quasi-independent State (like Bavarian, Baden, Saxony...etc.) impossible to tell but the uniforms don't appear to have any unique cuffs, etc. to indicate anything but "Prussian" which represented 75% of German soldiers (my guesstimate!).
To answer your question....Prussian is German....

Re: Uniform ID
Good evening, Sue, do you have any letters of them at all? Maybe envelopes or a letter with a 5 digit Feldpostnummer (=FPN)? That would help you enormouslyin your search.
You may also contact WaSt, but be prepeared to wait at least a couple month.

In case your relatives were wounded in WWI they are possibly mentioned in the Verwundetenlisten/Verlustlisten (wounded personal lists/casualty lists).

Re: Uniform ID
Thank you Roman
Unfortunately all of my father’s papers were taken from him when he was captured and the only reference number I have for him is the Volksliste number.
My grandfather never returned home and any letters etc were lost when my grandmother died.
I shall check out the links you have given.
Perhaps it will be easier to find records of his time in Scotland and work my way back to Poland.
Kind Regards
Sue

Thanks

Re: Uniform ID
Regarding the latter it seems that they´re his dogtag of the Polish unit under British command.

Hence I guess that the above are order from this units too. The right looks like an anti-aircraft "medal" with the possible incsription "Art.[-illery] Pl [-atoon]"
