Austrian Army Uniform Question

#1

Post by RayB1 » 06 Feb 2019, 21:53

Hello,

This may not be the correct forum section to post this question, if so please re-direct me. I have attached a picture of several young Austrian Army Soldiers which I believe was taken between 1915 and 1917. The solder on the left is my wife's grand-uncle. He was killed several days before he was to be discharged. In the course of the years we do not even have his name.

But with all this said, what can the uniform experts tell me and the family about his military rank and possibly even branch.

Thank you in advance!

Ray

This photo was made earlier, c. 1913-1914. Grand-uncle is a Korporal with a Badge for skillful range estimators. Probably from Landwehr infantry MG unit, but I don't know for sure.

Thank you very much. That makes sense as I have looked at the records for the Landwehr Corps.
