Hi all,
I found a german helmet in some woods in holland. Autumn 1944 there were sone very fierce battles with a lot of different german units.
Now i started cleaning this helmet and it seems to have a normandy style camo on it.
It cant be snow because the battles took place before any snowfall - and many troops fighting here came from normandy/france.
Now the decal is weird: it looks like theres only one on the leftside. The rightside has none as far i can see.
Normally this would be wehrmacht, but to me it looks like a white shield.... (3cm x 4cm)
Am i wrong? Has anyone experience with weathered decals? Is it an eagle or a shield...?
Camo helmet id please
Re: Camo helmet id please
Another question about the Wehrmacht shield.
Was it applied by first painting an overall white shiekd and afterwards the eagle stenciled in black over it?
If so, maybe the black paint is gone

Undoubtedly a Heer (Army) decal, different makers varied but they had.a white or silver shield shaped background with the eagle, which often disappear with long term exposure. Can't see the Normandy camo., but interesting battlefield find.

Thank you for your answer about the decal john!
In this specific battle no waffen ss units were involved.
All heer units originated from normandy. Hence i called it a 'normandy camo'
It look likes a grey helmet with painted sand colored stripes. Maybe call it a 'Holland camo' . Cant recall seeing this type anywhere.
Ill post pics when its clean.
