Breslau 1938 Sportfest Tinnie
Anyone have any information on the tinnie for the 1938 Breslau Sportfest? Photos of the event show people wearing the tinnie on a ribbon, but I see none of this version for sale or pictured on the Internet. There are plenty of pin-back badges around, though..
Himmler is wearing the ribbon version in this photo. I've seen it worn on both the left and the right side of the jacket.
Thanks!

I'm sure Himmlers version is a unique version of this tinney.... Notice it has cut-outs around the eagle which the normal version doesn't have. I've seen dozens of the round version, the one in the Himmler photo is the only example with a ribbon that I've seen. Thanks for posting.

He's either wearing a Festleitung type tinnie (Organizing Committee) of the event or even more likely-looking at what appears to be a multi-colored ribbon- Ehrengast medal/tinnie. It is rare but not unique.
The normal version tinnies do have cutouts as well. The pic above shows a plakette (non portable piece hence no cutouts).

Organizing committee sounds right, thanks. I have also seen photos of Konrad Henlein and Wilhelm Frick wearing this version, as well as some of the athletes - who could have been on the organizing committee too, I suppose.
Hans von Tschammer und Osten only wears the pin-back tinnie, which seems odd to me: wouldn't he have been on the organizing committee too?
There's another variant of this tinnie for judges. A single color ribbon descends from the badge, with the inscription "Kampfrichter (particular sport)" .

It is the same tinnie (size, detail and makers) just with an addition of a ribbon under it. And not just for judges but other groups as well (press staff, sport officials, medical staff, even winners of various disciplines). The color (and the arrangement as it was not always solid) depended on the group it represented.jeffhan373 wrote: ↑21 Jun 2019, 14:56There's another variant of this tinnie for judges. What I should've mentioned before is- there was another group that received the ribboned medals like the one Himmler was wearing- Honor Guests.
It is possible that Himmler (and H. von T&O that you mentioned above) received theirs as part of the "Ehrengast" group although I seem to recall reading somewhere that Himmler was actually involved in planning/organizing the event in question. Wish I remembered where I read it.
Anyways, the ribbons of those also differed between various groups.
It looks like in the above pic, W. Frick (and by the looks of it Himmler as well) is wearing the multi-colored ribboned medal of the Honor Guest (Organizers' ribbon was a single colored one).

Thanks. The athletes I mentioned wearing the same configuration as Himmler & Frick were from the Sudetenland, so they were probably in the "Honored Guests" group as well.
I don't think I've seen a photo of H v TuO wearing the tinnie with a ribbon, he seems to usually have the ordinary pin on. Attached is a nice photo of him in HJ uniform, where you can just (barely) see the tinnie on his right pocket.
In a similar vein, any idea what von Neurath is wearing in the attached photo? This is from the 1933 Turnfest at Stuttgart. I see Papen & Neurath wearing it, but none of the other high NS leaders. Is this a kind of badge worn only by (some of) the Prominente? HvTuO may also have this on in the small photo of him with Wilhelm Murr.

It is that event's festabzeichen which featured a rosette behind it. Example of which is pictured below. I am not sure if all or just some were made that way but very few seem to survive with the fabric. Most of what's out there these days seem to be just metal tinnies by themselves.
