Help identifying this Waffen SS unit

Help identifying this Waffen SS unit

This is a picture of my grandfather and his unit, taken somewhere on the eastern front, and I don't know which year. A Danube Schwabian, he was born in Krdinja, Yugoslavia (in present day Croatia), and my grandmother told me that he was first drafted into the Yugoslav army, and then drafted in the the German army. Looking at the uniform, and knowing a little history, I am pretty sure this is a Waffen SS unit, but if anyone could suggest any further details over which unit it is, I would appreciate it. I haven't had too much luck searching for more details with the limited info I have.

Not a Waffen-SS unit as such. He's with the Einsatzstaffel der Deutschen Mannschaft in Kroatien.
