Knights Cross on outfit in battle?

I am wondering if Knights Cross holders had their RK on them in battle.

99% of the time they wore them with all uniforms and in combat, occasionally they substituted an EK 2nd cl. worn around the neck (modified) in the field, but most wore the real deal.

As said above. Just allow me to add that it wasn't optional, either: The Knight's Cross was to be worn with all orders of dress except for sports clothing (obviously).

I once asked a SS-Vet about His Comp.leader and if he worn the RK in battle? He looked at me a bit surprised and the answer was "of course why shouldnt he?, He added also, we Always worn our decorations"

In Luftwaffe and Kriegsmarine was common flight or fight with decorations

if I recall correctly, one RK winner even mentioned he used it, because it helped "move things" faster in the field wth the bureochrats
