German Identity Disc 'Dog Tag' Abbreviation 'K' what does it stand for?

Hi.

New Member looking for help on WW2 German Identity Disc 'Dog Tag'

Stuck on Abbreviation 'K' what does it stand for?

ID Disc Particulars are - St.Kp.K.E.B. 6 #424

I think this is Stamm-Kompanie, 6th ?K? Ersatz Battalion

St. Kp = Stamm-Kompanie, (the reception pool of a training unit) think in a 1942/1943 Replacement Division

K = ?

E = Ersatz (Replacement)

B = Battalion or possibly Batterie

6 = Battalion/Batterie Number

#424 = Soldiers Army Number

Any idea on the K

I'm thinking it could be anything but guessing Korps or Kompanie; Kanone; Kavallerie; Kriegsmarine; Küstenbataillon or Kraftfahr (MT).

Also any pointers on the actual Unit this soldier was initially assigned to?

Thanks a million Markus. :thumbsup:

Kradschützen hasn't come up in any of my internet searches (one of the reasons I joined the forum).

So using translate in browser I get 6th Panzer Motorcycle Reconnaissance Replacement Training Department.

Is that correct?

Assuming following training he could have been attached to any armoured division in a recce role?

I have know this soldier was involved in the Normandy Campaign (captured 20th August 1944) and have a number of photos of him at various periods of his career which have compounded my research into what unit he was with.

1. Panzer Jacket (Field Grey as opposed to black with Heer collar tabs) at a depot in the style of Paderborn so thought StuG crew.

Would reconnaissance troops wear this style?

2. Standard Wehrmacht uniform (possibly Belgium/Holland/France) in 1943/1944.

3. What appears to be Luftwaffe Field Division uniform (M1943 Splittertarnmuster smock, Standard helmet but with helmet net, Field Grey Trousers) as part of MG42 squad most probably Normandy 1944.
