Begleitkommando Armband

#1

Post by Nathan Aweigh » 10 Jul 2020, 01:48

Hello everybody!

I recently acquired an armband that seems unusual to me because it doesn't have the typical swastika displayed prominently. Instead, it bears the word "Begleitkommando," which as near as I can tell has something to do with Hitler's bodyguard. Underneath the title, it says "Reichshandwerkertag" which seems to indicate a craftsman or artisan profession.

Below that is a stamp with the words, "Reichsbetriebsgemeinschaft," "handwerf," and "Der Leiter."

Dos anyone have any idea what this is?
Many thanks for your time!

The Craftsmen Day was an annual event from 1935 to 1939.
This armband belonged to an official guide/escort volunteer.

In 1935, the Master Craftsman was a 35yo plumber from Berlin - W.G. Schmidt.

Good evening Nathan,

the stamp reads:

Reichsbetriebsgemeinschaft
Handwerk
Der Leiter

Ärmelband probably from the "Deutsche Arbeitsfront".

Has nothing to do with Hitler at all, ordinary stuff, worn by members of the DAF.

Nonsense!

Stuff you will find on most of the german flea markets, original, and reproduced, whatever...

I can't find another example of this kind of DAF armband ,I personally doubt its originality.....and more without any comparative test.

Thanks for your input, everybody! It's nice to know a little more about the armband and its history.

Have a great day!
