Authentic SS 3rd Panzer Div. insignia ??

#1

Post by brookie » 26 Jan 2021, 02:49

I am new to this site. I have been collecting German WWII hand guns for about 15 years. I have seen a lot of Natzi insignia edo not know anything about it. I bought this set at an antique mall an wanted to find out if it's a reproduction or the real thing. Also how to tell the difference. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Brookie

Hello brookie ;

Welcome to AHF

Sorry, but all these SS insignia are reproductions

Also how to tell the difference
You need to see multiple originals, and then can compare the differences
They may be made for reenactment

Von, Thank you for your reply. Can you tell me what some basic indicators would be to distinguish authentic insignia.

Thanks again

Hello

Those are horrendous.

The skull is wrong shape, wrong style, wrong material and wrong backing.

Cuff similar.

Thanks for the insight. I would prefer to have a less desirable authentic piece than a more desirable reproduction. I have ordered a picture reference book to get some basics on what an authentic item should look like. Like most topics, it can get pretty deep pretty fast.
