SS Camouflage tunic 4 pocket type

Please can anybody tell me when this type of tunic was first used on the frontline as against the traditional field gray.

German M44 Pea Dot pattern were introduced in 1944, and were designed to replace the earlier Waffen-SS camouflage smocks.

thank you, was that the earliest 4 pocket tunic, was that early 1944 pre-Spring ?
