Hello!
I have tried searching around but can't seem to find what I'm looking for.
Would anyone happen to know what year subdued tresse was introduced for either the Heer or Waffen-SS, and how common place was it?
Thank you,
Subdued NCO Tresse for Heer/Waffen-SS

Re: Subdued NCO Tresse for Heer/Waffen-SS
The ' Tresse ' used in Wehrmacht/Heer was inherited from the Reichswehr and the Imperial German Army,
where the non-commissioned officers already made use of these braids.
It is logical not to find an introduction date in Wehrmacht, or in SS-VT.
Unteroffizier from 1901
You can see in this example all the possibilities of using the 'tresse' ; around the collar, swallow's nests,
arm chevron and cuff rings. In this case not applied on shoulder straps, a common place of use it.

Early collar 'Tresse' as was worn by NCOs of the Reichswehr.
This position continued to be used in the Waffenrock tunic of the Wehrmacht period for non-commissioned officers.
