OPINIONS ON AN SS BUCKLE

#1

Post by afa485 » 23 Nov 2022, 11:22

Dear Members,

I would be grateful for any opinions or information you can give on the SS Buckle in the attached pictures.

This buckle appears to be made of steel and bears the stamping RZM 155/40 SS. The RZM & SS are in double rings. The ends of the buckle claws look very crude to me, however it is possibly an original late war production, but I would be interested in your thoughts.

Best Regards

Tony A

Hello afa485 :

IMO. A fake Assmann SS belt buckle.

Von Thoma, many thanks. I reached the same conclusion. Although the photo is not good, the 'slash' which appears in front of the '40' is at the wrong angle in my opinion. On originals I observe that the slash appears to follow the line of the number 4, rather than being at a tangent like this: / 4.

Best regards and many thanks.

Tony
