Were the uniforms used in Schindler's List accurate?
Were the uniforms used in Schindler's List accurate?
My question as above, if any one can answer it. It came to mind the other day. I have these odd thoughts from time to time.
I am particullarly interested to know the accuracy of the Obergruppenfuhrer uniform worn by Ralph Fiennes. Also, does anyone know the supplier of the uniforms, or were they made for the film (I suspect the latter).
Thanks.

Although the film is black & white, but Ralph Fiennes' leather overcoat appears distinctly black. I was under the impression that SS Officers' leather overcoats were grey. Sepp Dietrich's was grey.
I think this was standard in war time, but SS officers may have worn black leather trench coats pre war. Any ideas?

I have one more question concerning the film. OK it is not about uniforms, but Moderator please bear with me.
When the ghetto is being cleared, a soldier shoots a boy at close range, who is being seized by another soldier (the boy has tried to run away). This soldier shouts something in german to the one that just shot the boy. I do not speak German, and would be interesred to know what he said.

The Collar Tabs were abysmal to say the least.

The leather cross-strap had been abolished by the time Plascow came into existance. I would have to check whether it came under the WVHA or RSHA, in which case Goeth would have worn Sipo and not Waffen-SS uniform. Adlermann

Goeth was SS-Hauptsturmführer der Reserve by the end of the war, he never received the Iron Cross 2nd Class (the ribbon Feines wears in the button hole and to the left of the ribbon bar). The deaths head tab is truly awful.

I wanna know what uniforms some of the guards were wearing. They appear to be black M36 style but have light coloured cuffs and collar? I can't tell the colour with the black and white film.
