(5) SS "BeVo" cufftitle's

#1

I would like an opinion on the originality of these SS cufftitles. Before I sell them, I want to be sure I can give a guaranty of authenticity. They are Bevo style and in mint/unsewn condition.[/b]

Understand that this is from an amateur and a dilatante!

IMHO -

The "Hohenstaufen" does not look right. The cross bar on the "H" should be higher ie not in the middle;

The "SS" in the Feldgendarmerie does not look right. There appears to be two separate parts to the runes, and not woven as one;

The Totenkopf skull does not look right at all - to my eye.

I note that none of the ends are not sewn over - this notwithstanding that the bands look in a mint or unissued / unused condition. Usually they came from the factory with the ends folded over and sewn.

Take a thread from each band and put it to a match. If it melts, it indicates a reproduction.

And of course, try them under black light. They ought not to flouresce.

Regards

I will have to attatch the pics individually... These cuff's, among quite a few others recently came from a man in Germany who took them from the factory sometime in 1945. All are from the same maker "Bemberg Wuppertal", the maker was a neighbor of "BEVO" (Bandfabrik Ewald Vorsteher) and "Bemberg" had produced it in the last WW2 days for "Bevo". They've had the burn and fluorescent test and appear good.

Ben

essentially you are looking at the formation of the letters and the reverse
structuring of the overall wording. Also what kind of material they used to
make the cuff.

Compare the AH repro to mine below.

Note how the salt n pepper pattern differs, note the subtle differences in
the letter formations and stitching structures. Also note the 2 loose thread
sticking out both ends of the "Adolf hitler" in the repro.

As the NDNtrooper has commented the repro is very good , but not good
enough!

The reverse always tells the full story, same with badges or medals and
hence why the members requested to see reverse pics.
