I think these guys are part of the fire police, but their helmets look odd.
Can anyone identify them?

I am no expert but I believe the person standing up is wearing a police firemans helmet that had the Nazi Police emblem badge (in gold) on one side and the swastika on the other.

The person bending over and the person with his back to the camera are wearing "older" styled Geman firemans helmets that I think are German M-34 Firemans Helmet that were worn in the '30s.

I may be wrong but they look similar.

Pickelhaube look-a-like

Post by Custermen » 20 Aug 2002, 21:52

For what its worth, eBay had an item listed a few months back that was claimed to be a Pickelhaube for a Berlin police unit. The spiked helmet was dated around 1933 and was worn for official VIP buisness. This photo reminded me of this, except the firemen's helmet looks like a Model 1916 a missing detachable spike.

I wonder which was the last pickelhaube issued for official wear.

My guess is that it is a ceremony...notice the background, is that a band member??? They are indeed fireman helmets, each different, maybe representing each different areas or group. Great photo!!!

I don't think the person in the background is a band member.

It's a bit fuzzy but my guess is an enlisted man from Kriegsmarine.

I think they were in the middle of discussion of who took their helmet spikes.
