Helmet with Norwegian decals

#1

Post by panzerschreck » 08 Jul 2002, 01:47

When I was my late grandfather's cellar, I discovered a helmet, probably a M35, with Norwegian decals on. Does someone know anything about it? Was this a Norwegian nazi helmet, or a helmet used by the Norwegian military forces after ww2?

That would depend on which Norwegian decal you mean.
These helmets were used both during and after ww2......

This is the most usual (used after ww2):

I've a similar helmet in my own collection. This is of the type Eric has posted too. These were helmets used by the Germans who occupied Norway. After the war there were huge stocks of equipment etc, these helmets were utilised by the Norwegian border units, after first replacing the liners, taking out and replacing the rivets and repainting/applying the Norwegian decals.

So in essence what you have is a WW2 German helmet that has been used Post war by the Norwegians - a curious piece of history, but an interesting addition to a helmet collection.
