Post by Mait » 15 Jul 2002, 14:41

I sent same kind of question about Hungary and received some really good pictures, so I thought it might be worth a try:

A question - does anyone have some pictures about Romanian uniforms of ww2? Or knows a good site about them? I am most interested in pictures (not photos).

Best Regards,

Mait

Hi, Mait... I'll send you some scans with Romanian uniforms. Hope you'll enjoy them. I will also answer as soon as possible at the "Antonescu Government" subject, to complete it.

Best regards,

Hi! Yes they are... You can also see the "CFR" markings on the locomotive, which means Caile Ferate Romane (Romanian Railroads).

Christoph, I do not believe the soldiers in the first pictur are Romanian. The collar tabs, the kepi and the badge on the side of the cap of the other soldier look like Hungarian to me. I am at work now and cannot check but I'll try to remember to look this up once get home.

Yep, I checked from Osprey's Men-at-Arms series book Germany's Eastern Front Allies and I am fairly certain that the soldiers in the picture are Hungarian. The first picture in the thread about Hungarian uniforms on this forum is from that book and shows quite clearly the headgear and collar tabs. Tha badge in the sidecap is not very clear but it is there.

regards,
Tapani K.
