Question, I have checked out a couple of helmet sites and recently saw a Luftwaffe helmet with a hand painted eagle, anyone every seen or heard of this before?

Handpainted decals existed during the war, it was not a common practice , but it did happen, Army, SS, Police, just about all had a few around. I have seen a photo in Russia, of an Army Enlisted man painting the eagle and shield on his helmet, early in the war, so, it did happen, but rarely.
