I tried on Google maps but found no town by that name (El Afule) now in Israil but there was a town called Afula just north of Jenin, which is the name I am after?

So you could be right and its this town in palestine.

ıt is a good translation but without sence. Yes Midilli is pony but is a also name of a great ottoman turkish island on Aegean see. Today greece : Lesvos.
The name of the island was given to Breslau.

Wikipedia gave me this
