Hello Joe,

Pardon the delay. (Traveled a great deal lately) I have attack data for a number of E class subs. Create a separate thread?

Mate,

I was given Ole Nikolajsen's book "Ottoman Aviation" and I found a mention of the attack on Sinop pages 203-204.

"A strong Russian flotilla was spotted near Sinop in mid July and before countermeasures could be taken 2 Turkish lighters carrying oil had been seized
and 22 small coastal vessels destroyed. During this attack on Sinop Russian seaplanes dropped leaflets urging, in German and Turkish, people to surrender."

Sorry but no other details given, either a date, but only July 1917

Cheers

Felix,

Mate have you seen this?

The Ottoman Navy 1900-1918 : a study of the material personnel and professional development of the Ottoman Navy from 1900 through the Italian, Balkan, and first World Wars.

Karl Wilhelm Augustus Darr
University of Louisville

Some interesting details in there

Hello Steve,

Yes I do. I have shelved this topic for a bit to focus on German submarine operations in the Med in the Great War

Felix,

Mate I notice this book on the other site

"The Ottoman Steam Navy 1828 1923" by Langensiepen and Guleryuz

Mentions a number of actions including those in the Black Sea along the coast

I notice the capture of the Italian Ship (Marie Rosette) off Sinope along with around 50 other ships mostly small sailing vessels along the coast Jan 1915.

Cheers

Thanks. I recently acquired a copy. Put it aside as working on some German submarine research.
